Fiber Laser Safety Enclosures
Laser safety always comes up when discussing 'open' lasers like diode or fiber types. Cloudray make a couple different safety enclosures for their lasers so I'm showing the difference between them and why you might pick one over the other.

Simple Tensile Strength Tester - Easy to Build!
Переглядів 3,8 тис.Місяць тому
This is a simple and cheap tensile strength tester for measuring relative tensile strength from filament samples. It's used to test the layer adhesion strength across various filaments or settings. Does increasing the temperature on your favorite filament create stronger parts? Does high speed printing create weaker parts? This mini tester is designed to answer these questions. Creality K1 Max Hotend Upgrade - Trianglelab CHCB-OT
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
I wasn't very happy with the print quality from my Creality K1 Max so I decided to get it fully updated with the newest firmware, use their new slicer and swap out the hotend with a Trianglelab CHCB-OT with a CHT nozzle. All of this resulted in pretty decent results I can live with. Some printers just need some time to get the firmware right, which is really unfortunate. But overall, it's a ver...
Fixing a Design Flaw - HEPA Air Filter
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
I like my Gweike HEPA air filter, but it has a major design flaw. For the pre-filter, only a small portion of it is actually getting used due to how the inlet is designed. Armed with some filament and a 3d printer, I'm going to fix this. Most laser air filters seem to have this same design, so this process should work on most of the filters on the market. xTool P2 CO2 Laser - One Year Follow-up Review

It's been one year since I got the xTool P2 55W CO2 laser, is it still good? Yes! It's one of my favorite tools and although it's not perfect, it's a good fit for me and for how I use a CO2 laser in my workshop. Obviously everyone's needs will be different, but it's been a really versatile machine that does what I want it to do. xTool P2 (affiliate link) - www.xtool.com/products/xtool-p2-55w-co...

Filament Sample Card - Filament Drawer Add-on!
Переглядів 12 тис.3 місяці тому
Many people requested a way to see what's inside of the drawers on the Modular Filament Drawer System. I had originally planned on doing this, but couldn't figure out a solution that still allowed me to be lazy. So I came up with the Filament Sample Card, which lets you easily (and quickly) make cards that show what's inside each drawer. Filament Sample Card - www.printables.com/model/807704-fi...

Nice work. Few suggestions if you plan to improve this work: try to align pulling cylinder of linear actuator with hanging scale (same height). Otherwise you will have some torque resulting unknown friction. Additionally in that case, you can use some D-chain link on both sides of test objects to connect linear acturator and hanging scale. No need for those parts in middle you mentioned that they will wear out. Reminder to viewers to buy a hanging scale which will show the peak of one movement. PLA is strong just don't like constant load, impact and heat. So for this application it is good. Only material which would be better is PC-CF. There are bigger T-nuts, but they are not rotating (you have to slide them form the edge). I suggest those for big load applications, like on side where only two holds the linear actuator. I enjoyed the video. Thx.

If you leave power hooked up to the leads all day long will that damage anything in the actuator? For instance if I apply +12vdc and the actuator extends fully and I leave that voltage applied all day long until I switch to -12vdc for retraction and leave it there all night.

I have had mine since launch very great machine overall. Did have a couple of issues that X-tool resolved by sending replacement parts. Good thing I was still under the 1 year Warranty or it would have been out of pocket cost. I did end up getting a Monport 80w which I love and is faster.

I've found vistacnc to have excellent support. I am running a pokeys57cnc and mach3 on windows10 with the A-axis slaved to the Y-axis with both Y and A having their own drivers, motors, and limit switches to enable auto-squaring. Everything worked as it should when I used the keyboard to control it, but when I used a pendant in continuous jog mode, the Y-axis moves in both directions as it should, but the A-axis only moved in one direction racking the gantry. When mach3 is in step mode, everything moves in the right directions using the pendant. I first was trying to use an x-box controller, and it had this problem. I thought it had something to do with the x-box plugin, so I bought an iMach3 P4-S Pendant. It had the same problem. I removed and re-installed mach3 and went through all the settings, and the problem persisted. I asked VistaCNC if they knew of a solution. They wrote a modified plugin that corrected the problem. Now I have a fully functional system thanks to their support. The benefit to all this is not just that I can use a pendant with my system, but the pendant is really awesome. The P4-S pendant gives precise control of the machine much better than the keyboard. If you run this configuration, you will have this problem. The imach pendant is incredible, and vistacnc supports their product which is really rare these days.

Is the door safetyswitch normally open (NO), or normally closed (NC)? If the latter, then I'd consider that a safety issue (wire disconnected, pinched, cut, etc)
